The requirements for manuscripts submitted for publication

Polish Journal of Public Health publishes

  • original papers (reviewed)
  • demonstration articles
  • editorial articles, polemics and letters to the editor
  • information and notes about the activities of institutions, organizations and scientific societies
  • summaries of master theses, doctoral dissertations and higher degree theses
  • calls for proposals for conferences, symposia


The articles for publication (texts, tables, schemes/figures, diagrams, and statistical data should be provided in 2 copies on one-sided computer printed pages with attached diskette 3,5” or CD with files saved in Windows format. Each page should be numbered. The capacity of any article should not exceed 20 000 characters (with spaces), i.e. approximately 10 pages of standard text (30 lines on a page with about 65 characters in line).

The format of manuscripts submitted for publication

  • 1st page:
    • the title,
    • authors’ first names and surnames,
    • authors institutional affiliations with the official addresses,
    • corresponding authors (address, telephone number, e-mail);
  • 2nd page:
    • the title,
    • abstract in Polish and English language: 1500-2000 characters (according to the bibliographical database recommendations), the text reflecting the outline of the original article (introduction, research objective, material and methods, results, discussion, conclusions) or illustrative article,
    • key words – 3-10 words according to “Medical Subject Headings” (MeSH);
  • 3rd page and the consecutive ones:
    • the title and text,
    • the references,
    • tables, figures, diagrams and statistical data.

The required format of the text of original articles: (introduction, objective, material and methods, results, discussion, conclusions), reference list (up to 15 items).

Original articles are published in English in full. The Editor accepts for revision both the texts in Polish and English but if the article has a positive review, the authors will be obliged to provide its full version.

References

The reference notes to the list of references should be placed in parentheses. The reference list should comply with "Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals" (JAMA 1997;277:927-934, NEJM 1997;336(4):309-315),; it should be numbered consecutively in the order of citing, e.g.:

Also a separate page with short biographical notes about the authors should be attached to the original and demonstration articles, including: first names and surname, the name of the university and the graduation date, scientific title (degree), professional title, current place of work and the position as well as the scope of interests.

Fees

The authors should provide a fee for the published original and demonstration articles amounting to 100,00 PLN (net) (122,00 gross) for the standard article (up to 10 pages). For each additional page of text, table or diagram the fee is 10,00 PLN (net) (12,20 gross). The authors receive one copy of the Polish Journal of Public Health.

Submission of articles for publication and attaching of biographical notes is treated as an informed consent for their publication in print and in electronic form, including the Internet.

The Editors reserve the right to shortening of the texts, improving the linguistic errors and terminology and other editorial corrections.
